How do I deal with logins for youth teams and parents?

Category: Players & Rosters · October 12th, 2007

Every person on your Roster is one (and only one) individual person with a single login. So if you want a separate login for somebody, you’ll need to add them as a separate person to your Roster.

In the case of youth teams with players and parents, there are a couple approaches you could use:

  1. Add the player to the Roster and just have the player and parents all share the same username/password.
  2. Add the player and then add a parent to the Roster so that the player and parent each have a separate login. (Make the parent a non-player.)
  3. Add the player and then add two parents to the Roster so that the player and *each* parent have separate logins. (Make the parent non-players.)

If you want a separate login for somebody, they need to appear separately on your Roster. Naturally, the specific approach you use depends on whether you want parents to have their own “voice” on the site separate from the player. Likewise, if you want to track Availability for parents in addition to players, then the parents will need their own accounts.

We are working on a solution to streamline this situation so that everybody is taken care of and it doesn’t make your Roster a mile long.
