What is RSS (and why should I care)?

Category: General FAQs · April 12th, 2007

You see these little orange RSS “chicklets” everywhere these days. What’s the big deal? Well, RSS is a new method for easily distributing online content and is often called a “web feed”. RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication, is the technical format that makes it possible.

Why should you care? RSS (or “web feeds”) allow you to keep track of a large number of your favorite websites or blogs without having to remember to check each site manually or clutter your email Inbox with enewsletters. You can now streamline your online experience by subscribing to specific content feeds and aggregating this information in one place to be read when you’re ready.
